Ecological Construction - Grey Water

In Guatemala, there are 6 months of dry season every year, creating massive water problems. Therefore, it was important for us to use water as efficiently as possible.

Compost toilets help us to reduce the amount of water we use, but hotels and restaurants tend to create a lot of dirty water despite their best efforts. To avoid ground contamination, we built an irrigation system with plastic tubes. These tubes, which are well hidden, distribute water to most parts of our garden. The microorganisms and plants absorb soap and food waste, which actually give more nutrition to our plants.
